A Journal Entry

Hi Everyone! How are you doing?
The following is a devotional I wrote a few weeks ago from my Bible reading. Hope these verses speak to you as well.. God bless! <3

Text: James 1:12-18

12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
16 Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. 17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. 18 He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.

God's Message:
"Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to these who love him."  v. 12

God's Commandment:
"Don't be deceived, my dear brothers" v. 16

God's Promise:
"every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows" v. 17

Personal Application:
We will get God's reward if we don't give up in trials. God is faithful. He has given us motivation through this promise for us to move forward. Yet, the Lord said through His Word that we must not be "deceived". We must discern which one is trial or which which one is temptation among what we're experiencing. There should be different approaches to each one of them. If we are in trial, we should hold fast to God. We must persevere and never stop doing what is right. But if we are facing temptation or if we are tempted already, we should repent already. It is because temptation comes from our own selfish desires. It is never caused by God.

Are you facing trials or temptations? Call on Jesus now!  :)
